Fresh, authentic Greek fare pairs with modern industrial decor at Alfa Piehouse, D.C’s favorite Mediterranean bakery and pizza house. Alfa Piehouse serves up flaky phyllo breakfast dishes and memorable Greek pies six at their humble location on H Street Northwest.
White walls, an enormous industrial orb chandelier, and warm wooden tables make Alfa Piehouse seem larger than it is, but what it lacks in square footage, it more than makes up for in its flaky, filling pies. Guests say the Bougatsa spinach and feta is strong, flaky, and filled with fresh herb flavors, while their baklava is guaranteed to be the best you’ve ever tasted. If the baklava has sold out, folks say you won’t regret trying the Kihi cream pie, which acts as a Greek rendition of a cheese danish. A fantastic espresso machine and free olive samples make locals feel welcome no matter the time, and the mini pies seem to provide the perfect answer for those feeling a little peckish. While Alfa makes salads fresh until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, guests say it's best to arrive earlier if you want to sample an assortment of these hearty stuffed pies.
