Johnny Rockets was founded in Los Angeles in 1986, at the height of America’s ’50s nostalgia boom. Today you’ll see the evidence of that nostalgia when you visit this popular ’50s-themed eatery, which has grown into a national chain with 300-plus locations, including an outpost just moments from Residences on the Avenue.
Sit down at the counter and order yourself a burger and malt combination (add fries or onion rings to make it a full meal). Tap your toes to the classic jukebox tunes piped into the dining room, and feast your eyes on the framed images of American pop cultural history—movie stars and music legends—lining the walls.
At the restaurant’s Foggy Bottom location, you’ll find tourists, students, and locals alike crowded into the booths. Note that this location becomes quite busy during peak dining hours!
