May 26 Visit the National Museum of African Art During Museum Week DC May 23 – 29, 2016

Between May 23 and May 29, experience Museum Week DC, a free event that’s open to the public. Explore the city’s art museums, culture, history, heritage museums and beyond during this unique week. It’s about getting to know your neighborhood and all the culture that goes with it!

At the National Museum of African Art, see the works of six internationally-recognized African artists who examine how time is experienced by the body. Artists’ Books and Africa is another exhibit you won’t want to miss. This is the first exhibition to focus on African artists’ books, and these visual and tactile artworks offer visitors a unique look at experimentation in art. Disney lovers will appreciate the Walt Disney – Tishman African Art Collection Highlights, which offers unique and rare works of traditional art from sub-Saharan Africa. The National Museum of African Art is open from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., so be sure to stop in and explore the beauty of African culture and art.
