Most DC residents know that the Smithsonian Museum puts on some of the most fascinating events in the city, and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2016 is no different. This annual event runs through each June and July and is sponsored by the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, which aims to bring cultural traditions from all around the world right to DC's National Mall.
This year's Smithsonian Folklife Festival will feature daily events that include music and dance performances, storytelling and even cooking demonstrations from a number of different cultures. Programs include Basque, the Sounds of California and On the Move: Migration and Immigration Today. There will also be discussion sessions on migration, cultural traditions and other topics.
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival takes place from June 29 through July 4, and again from July 7 through July 10, 2016. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., while evening events are from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
