Starting on September 16th, DC locals will be able to take advantage of a special, time-limited (and free!) set of walking tours sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC. This 9-day event — dubbed WalkingTown DC — will feature everything from lunch-hour tours you can catch during the middle of a hectic workday, to more leisurely kid-friendly tours that wander through neighborhoods that are described in popular children's books.
In fact, no matter what your tastes are, it's likely that you'll be able to find a tour that piques your interest. Ever wish you could explore historic mansions and estates? No problem; several tours focus on that. How about the city's social history? Sign up for the "Fight for Civil Rights" tour that explores African American activism during the 20th century. Be aware: all the tours are free, but space is limited and tours do require advance registration, so head over to the website and reserve your spot today.
