Finding fresh, high-quality fruit and veggies in the city used to require a trip to a high-end grocery story, but no more. Since the Freshfarm Dupont Circle Market made its debut, DC dwellers have had direct and easy access to certified organic and conventional produce, not to mention meat, baked goods, and other artisan foods.
The market runs year-round just about a block outside of Dupont Circle, so come to check it out this Sunday between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. More than 50 producers from around the area set up shop at the market each week offering up their fresh goods. Stop by the Black Rock Orchard booth for plump berries and heirloom tomatoes. Visit the reps from New Columbia Distillers for locally crafted, small-batch gins and vermouths. Head to Shepherds Manor Creamery for soap and cheese crafted using sheep's milk. There's a slightly different lineup each week, so you'll always find something new to try.
